Elkader- Services for John Putzier, 68, who died Sunday, were held Monday. Burial was in Lutheran cemetery at Garnavillo.

Funeral services for John Herman Putzier were held at the Witt Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 1:30 and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 p.m.. The Rev. Paul Kitterer oficiating. Burial was in the Garnavillo cemetery.

Mr. Putzier had been in failing health for the past five years. During the past two months he had spent several weeks in a hospital at Dubuque where his condition was diagnosed as critical due to a heart ailment. He was brought to his home in Read township several weeks ago where he was cared for by his family. He died Monday, Oct. 27, 1950. He had reached the age of sixty-eight years, one month and eight days. Mr. Putzier had spent his entire life in Clayton county.

John Herman Putzier, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Putzier, was born Sept. 19, 1882, in Jefferson township, Clayton county. He received his education in the elementary school near his home.

On Sept. 28, 1909, he was united in marriage to Alma Marie Steinfadt, who preceded him in death in the year 1932. Four children were born to this union, Orville of Garnavillo, Dale of Nassau, Minn., Lloyd of Garnavillo and Vincent of the United States Air Force.

On May 25, 1936, Mr. Putzier was united in marriage to Ernestine Funk who survives her husband. He had lived on a farm his entire life.

Surviving him besides his wife and four children is a brother, August of Marietta, Minn., and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Donald Wolf, Richard Wolf, Melvin Breitsprecher, Willie Rusher, Joe Marcsisak and Ray O. Glesne.

People from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Verni Putzier, Mr. and Mrs. August Putzier, all of Marietta, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Putzier, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Redepenning, Lester Putzier, all of Madison, Minn.; Mrs. Milton Heil, Dubuque; Pfc. Vincent E. Putzier, 58th Fighter Squadron, Falmouth, Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Putzier, Nassau, Minn.
