Edgewood, Ia., Nov. 7 - Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church for Rubert Anton Nading, whose death occurred in the hospital in Iowa City, Nov. 3, following a long illness.

The Rev. Cyrus W. Cleveland, pastor of the church officiated. A male quartet composed of D.E. Rhines, Ray Minkler, C.J. Rulon and Fred Smith, with Miss Jennie Forward at the organ, rendered appropriate music. Burial was made in the Littleport cemetery.

Mr. Nading was born near Littleport April 25, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nading. He was of a family of thirteen children. His schooling was received in the schools near Littleport.

On Sept. 3, 1919, he was united in marriage with Miss Lytle Steefer and their work together has been farming, always in this vicinity. To this union were born four children, Anton, Mildred, Wilbur and Richard, all living.

While at farm work May 27 last, he was injured in a runaway accident, among other bruises the prong of a rotary hoe entering the leg and causing a severe wound. Not until Oct. 16 was it deemed wise to amputate the limb. The operation was thought successful but pneumonia resulted and its attack was so severe that he did not rally.

Rubert Anton Nading enlisted in the service of the United States Army in February 1918 and was in the fighting at Amiens July 21, and at Verdun Sept. 9. He suffered a severe gassing while in the service. He was honorably discharged April 11, 1919.

Besides the wife and four children there remain to mourn the loss, his father; two sisters, Mrs. William Bushaw, Edgewood; Mrs. Ruby Stone, Cedar Rapids; and eight brothers, Harrison, Jasper, Merritt, Forrest, James, John, Flouris and Fred; and one uncle, Andrew Nading of Dubuque; besides a large number of other close relatives.
