Elkader- Dwayne Gene Whittle, 44, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Elkader, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at the Pensacola Naval Hospital in Pensacola, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Paul Peters. Burial: church cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 10 a.m. Monday at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader.

Survivors include his parents, Bernell and Bernice of Elkader; a sister, Beverly Whittle of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Stanley Whittle of Elkader.
