Colesburg- Thomas J. Schweikert, 26, of Guttenberg was killed and another man was injured Friday when their car left the road about 3 1/2 miles east of here.

Injured was Loras A. Gassman, 22, of Dubuque.

Authorities said the car apparently missed a curve, struck an embankment, flew about 140 feet in the air and skidded another 130 feet after it landed.

Both men were thrown from the car. Officers said Schweikert was believed to have been driving the car.

(Thomas J. Schweikert is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Guttenberg, Iowa.)
