Mrs. Henry Schlake died at he home in Garnavillo on Tuesday evening, June 9, 1925, her age being about 67 years. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon ar 1:00 o'clock at Garnavillo.

Mrs. Henry Schlake (nee Lizzie Wilker) whose death occurred as mentioned in last weeks Press, at Garnavillo, Iowa, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 1925, was born on a farm near Garnavillo on March 26, 1858, where she grew to young womanhood. Her age at the time of death was 67 years 2 months and 13 days. About fifty years ago she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Schlake at Garnavillo, with whom she went to housekeeping on a farm about a mile south of Garnavillo. To this union were born eleven children, all of whom survive with the exception of one son, Arthur, who preceded her in death a number of years ago. The remaining children and their place of residence are: Mrs. Ida Backhaus, Manly, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Schroeder, Jefferson township; John Schlake, Jefferson Township: Albert Schlake, Garnavillo township; Mrs. Alma Hamann, Guttenberg; Herman Schlake, Farmersburg tsp.; Mrs. Ruth Hamann, Garnavillo; Roy Schlake, Farmersburg township; Mrs. Nettie Thoma and Victor Schlake, Garnavillo. Her husband and two brothers, John and Fred Wilker of Garnavillo and 20 grandchildren also mourn her death. A number of years ago Mrs. Schlake with her husband and several of the younger children retired from their farm south of Garnavillo to a smaller farm just on the edge of Garnavillo, where they resided when deceased was called from her earthly home. Mr. and Mrs. Schlake were about to occupy their new residence in Garnavillo, which they had erected this spring, and in which they intended so spend their remaining years in well earned rest, after having given charge of their farm to their youngest son Victor. Although deceased had been in poor health for several months her condition was not considered alarming until she became bedfast only a few days before her death. She was a devoted wife and mother, a kind friend and neighbor, always ready and willing to lend aid an assistance when occasion presented itself. Her memory will be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing her
