Guttenberg- Edward L. Kuempel, 89, well-known retired business man, died here Thursday.

Mr. Kuempel, who operated a plumbing and heating firm here, was born in Clayton, Ia., in 1867. He moved to Guttenberg in (looks like 1908) where he operated his business until 1945 at which time he took a less active part in the firm until 1955 when he retired.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church here and burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The body is at the St_ger Funeral Home.

Mr. Kuempel is survived by a son, John T. Kuempel, and a daughter, Marie, both of Guttenberg; another daughter Marguerite Kuempel of Cedar Rapids, and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
