Postville Herald, Postville, Iowa, Thur., 14 Dec. 1922.

Marie Jahnke was born December 5, 1851, at Bresegat, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, and emigrated to America, July 28, 1872. October 8, 1872, she was married to Henry Johann Schroeder and to this union nine children were born. After living near Luana until 1895 the family moved on a farm near Hardin, where after an illness of several weeks she passed away Thursday morning last at four o'clock.

Deceased was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Four children and her husband preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss the following children: Mrs. Ernest Bigler of Decorah, Mrs. Wm. Topel of Monona, Arthur, Minna and Edward at home; also 10 grandchildren; one brother, Chris Jahnke of Oelwein and a brother and sister in Germany.

At the time of her death she was aged 71 years and 2 days.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran Church is this city last Saturday afternoon, the Rev. E. Schmidt officiating.

In this connection, the family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and friends for their many kindly acts and comforting words during the illness and after the death of their beloved mother.

Bigler, Ernest B. 1874 - 1940 (Husband of Elizabeth (Schroeder) Bigler)

Further information on Elizabeth (Schroeder) Bigler has yet to be found.
Further information on Tillie (Schroeder) Topel has yet to be found. There is a gravestone photo on the IGPP for a William A. and Mathilde D. Topel in St. Paul Lutheran (Monona) Cemetery (Clayton Co.) that may be Tille.

The Allamakee Co. Woodmansee burial book shows the following burials in the Postville Cemetery:

Henry Schroeder 1837 - 1916. Same lot as Mary.
Mary Schroeder 1851 - 1922.
Willie Schroeder 1875 - 1895. Same lot as Mary.
Johnnie Schroeder 1878 - 1895. Same lot as Mary.
Bertha Schroeder 1880 - 1895. Same lot as Mary.
