Elkport- A 16-year-old Guttenberg girl was killed and her companion injured as the result of a motorcycle accident on a Clayton county blacktop road at the south edge of Elkport at 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

Barbara Eilers, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eilers and a junior at Guttenberg high school, was a passenger on the motorcycle, driven by Delbert Reimer, 16, of Elkport when it went out of control and traveled off an embankment, sailing 12 feet into the air and slamming into an embankment on the other side of the road.

Both were thrown from the vehicle. Miss Eilers died about three hours in a Guttenberg hospital of head injuries. Officials theorize her head may have struck a rock when she was thrown from the cycle.

Young Reimer was in good condition with multiple bruises in a Guttenberg hospital Friday morning.

Miss Eilers death brings the Clayton county fatality toll to three so far this year.

Miss Eilers is survived by her parents and several brothers.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Tuecke Funeral Home in Guttenberg.
