Garnavillo- Kathryn Rose Backhaus, 87, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in Manor Care Health Service, Dubuque, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, by Father Dennis Koopman. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, where a wake service begins at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Dietrich of Dubuque and Virgene Towle of Paw Paw, Mich.; and two sisters, Marie Hoeger of Dubuque and Dorothy Kann of Guttenberg.
