Mishaps fatal to 11 Iowans:

One of the latest traffic fatalities was that of Alfred Pfiffner, 55, Guttenberg mail carrier. He was killed yesterday on the way to his daughters wedding.

The automobile in which Pfiffner was riding sideswiped a milk truck driven by Lavern Sinkey, 24, Dubuque. The car was driven by Pfiffner's son, Irwin. Pfiffner's wife and two children were unhurt. Pfiffner was carrying a wedding cake in his lap.

Albert [sic] Pfiffner was born in Guttenberg on Nov. 14, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Pfiffner. He attended school here and worked for a number of years in the local button factories. In 1911 he became a substitute mail carrier on one of Guttenberg's rural routes and served in this capacity until 1915 when he took over a route of his own, which he continued to follow for the next 23 years.

On May 05, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Eilers of Guttenberg, to which union nine children were born.

In addition to the wife he is survived by five sons, George, Arnold and Herman of Dubuque, and Edwin and Alois at home; four daughters, Monica of Dubuque, and Bertha, Delores and Mary Jane at Home. There are also seven brothers, Ed. of Lasing, William and Raymond of Waterloo and Joseph, Cyril, Leo and Roman of California, and four sisters, Mrs. Harold Pendergast of Waterloo, Mrs. Regina Hellwig of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Roger Schmitz and Miss Frances Pfiffner of California. Two aunts, Mrs. Louisa Ehrhardt of Guttenberg and Mrs. Bertha Kloser of Cassville, Wis. also survive.
