Guttenberg- Arthur "Art" A. Oberbreckling, 62, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in his home of Cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, by Monsignor John McClean. Burial: Kann-St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.
Survivors include special friend Kathy Berns; his mother, Mrs. Alvina Timmer Oberbreckling of Ryan; two daughters, Sherry (Keith) Kramer of Hopkinton and Pamela Ingles and special friend Ted Althoff, both of Delaware, Iowa; three grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan and Luke; three sisters, Madonna Gustavenson and Delores (Bill) Phelps, both of Cedar Rapids, and Marge (Richard) Wolfe of Ryan; 10 brothers, Jerome of Anamosa, Lester of Stanwood, Thomas (Lana) of Onslow, Herbert of Lowden, Alaska, Daniel (Linda) of Winthrop, Ronald (Jean) of Wyoming, Iowa, Charles of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Julie) of Strawberry point, Luke (Mary) of Mechanicsville and Randy of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Art was born Aug. 14, 1937, on the family farm near Dyersville, the son of Otto and Alvina Timmer Oberbreckling. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Ryan, served his country in the Army and owned and operated the Oberbreckling Construction Co. for many years.
