Guttenberg- Robert J. Kuempel, 60, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Health Center, Dubuque, after a brief illness. He was owner and operator of Kuempel's Plumbing and Heating for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Glee; a daughter, Susan of Waterloo; three sons, Timothy and Patrick, both of Guttenberg, and Peter of Rhinelander, Wis.; his father, John of Guttenberg; two brothers, James and Thomas, both of Guttenberg; and three sisters, Kathleen Dunn of Eulus, Texas, Clara Mae Kuempel of Waterloo, and Bernyce Elsinger of Guttenberg; and two grandsons.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Tuecke-Allyn's, where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m. Thursday.
