Homer Allison Dill passed away at his home in Elgin on Thursday, June 13, at 9:45 a.m. at the age of sixty-three years, one month and eleven days.
Homer, son of Elijah and Isabelle Dill, was born at Volga, May 2, 1883.
On June 9, 1931, he was united in marriage to Mabel A. Possehl, at Dubuque. For four years they farmed in Pleasant Valley, and then moved to Elgin, where he died. He is preceded in death by his father and one brother.
He is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Isabelle Kriz of Fayette; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Randall of Stone, Sask., Canada; his widow, Mrs. Mabel Dill of Elgin; four stepsons, Oscar, Rudy, Ralph and Alva Possehl; and two uncles, Sam and Jake Harriman of Fayette; and two aunts.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and the Methodist church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. C. Warton. Burial was made in the Mederville Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ray Chapman, Norris Capper, Carl Hackmann, S. K. Langsdale, Chris Schweitzer and Leo Boleyn. Special music was provided by Mrs. Roy Steele, Joan Mosby, G. J. Mosby and John Tillotson, accompanied by C. B. Schori.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reynolds and family, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carpenter and family, Mrs. Kenneth Orr, Mrs. Erma Billmeyer, Helen Carpenter of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Carpenter and son of Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carpenter and family of Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Dell Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Alderman of Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Harriman, Mrs. Isabelle Kriz, Mr. and Mrs. John Lint Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John Lint Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lint of Fayette.
