Mrs. Mary Kahrs died Tuesday, October 3, at her home in Mederville after an illness of six weeks.

Mrs. Kahrs was born September 14, 1857, in Wisconsin as the daughter of Ferdinand and Caroline Albrecht. While still a young child she came to this county with her parents.

December 6, 1885, she was united in marriage to John Kahrs and nine children were born to them, eight of whom survive the mother. Those mourning besides husband are: Alfred, Grover, Henry and Ferd of Mederville, Anna and Blight of Chicago and Carrie and Elmer at home. Three brothers also survive, Alfred Albrecht of Mederville, Albert Albrecht of Oelwein and Henry Albrecht of Santa Monica, Calif. Besides these there are four step-children, as follows: Mrs. (B. or R.) Mullady, Dubuque; Mrs. L. Christ, McGregor; John Kahrs, Waterloo, and Louise Burgeson of Chicago.

Funeral services were held last Friday with the Rev. Henry Allshouse officiating with interment in the Mederville cemetery.

Those from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. L. Christ, McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. M. Hirsch, Donald and Adele, McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Blight, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker and Albert Albrecht, Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. H. Schaffer, Mrs. E. Reitz, Mrs. M. R. Dykeman, Mrs. Anna Campbell and Mrs. Truman Prouty of Marquette, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wolfe, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Mullady and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Falk, Dubuque.

Mrs. E. C. Becker and Miss Mary Andreae attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Kahrs at Mederville Friday afternoon.
