Littleport- Sylvan E. Rieck, 77, died Tuesday evening in University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a short illness. He was a retired Clayton County employee.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three stepsons, Richard Clinton of Elkader, Steve Ortmann of Farmersburg, and Ron Conner of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter, Dee Kuehl of Edgewood; two brothers, Marshall of Dubuque and Henry Jr. of Clayton; four sisters, Fern Kellogg of Cedar Rapids, Ione Ortmann of Littleport, Doris Brody of Ninilchik, Alaska, and Marie Larson of San Francisco, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in Hope Lutheran Church: Burial: Union Cemetery, rural Littleport. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Witt's, Elkader, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
