Edwin Smothers died of consumption Thursday April 2nd, 1891. He leaves a wife, six children and numerous friends to mourn his loss.

Died, at his residence in Elk township, this county, of consumption, comrade Edmond Smothers, aged 44 years, 11 months and 16 days.
He was a private in Co. A., 136th Illinois Inft. His remains were laid to rest by comrades of the G.A.R., assisted by friends and neighbors.
The afflicted family have the sympathy of all in their great sorrow. Thus another old soldier has answered the last roll call.
