Died. Near Littleport, Aug. 1st, 1869, Alva Everett Gifford, aged 6 years and 11 months.

A terrible affliction, indeed, it must be to his bereaved mother. In the death of Everett she has lost the dreams of years, the hopes of a life. He was all a fond mother could wish him. Intelligent beyond his years, obedient and devoted to her, his loss leaves a void that cannot be filled. But, Everett has gone to a better world. His death is his immortal gain, and this is the consolation we offer the bereaved mother and sympathizing friends.

Note: The little boy is buried in Union cemetery. His gravestone is inscribed:

Son of W. H. & L. Gifford
