Volga City - Lillian Marion Sangston (nee Bevans) was born Nov. 8, 1855, near Garber, and died Nov. 4, 1939, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hallie Blake, near Volga City. She reached the age of 83 years, 11 months and 26 days. Had she lived but four days more, until Nov. 8, she would have reached her 84th birthday.
She was married to John T. Sangston, July 20, 1874, and to this union ten children were born: Mrs. Hallie Blake, Volga City; S.K. Sangston, Pe Ell, Wash.; William, Dubuque; Mrs. Florence Harr, deceased; Mrs. Maud Krieg, Chicago; Mrs. Estella Hargiss, HIghland Park, Ill.; Mrs. Gladys Pino, Volga City; Newell, Volga City; John Jr., Tacoma, Wash., and Alvia, Tulkma, Ore.
Her husband and one daughter, Florence, preceded her in death, the husband nearly 20 years ago.
The other children; one brother, Charles Bevans of Randle, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren survive her.
She received her education in the local district schools and Lenox college at Hopkinton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Blake home at 11 o'clock, with Rev. R.P. Nelson, Presbyterian pastor, in charge, and at Garber at 1 o'clock, with Rev. Riggs of Ames in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Garber.
