Monona, Ia. - Funeral services for Herman A. Schlitter, 77, who died Monday, Aug. 28, at Independence, following a cerebral hemorrhage and paralytic stroke on Friday, were held here at Pilgrim Evangelical church, on Wednesday. The Rev. H.W. Raduege, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Council Hill Cemetery, east of Monona.

Mr. Schlitter, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schlitter, was born in Uhling, Germany, on Dec. 14, 1867. He came to America with his parents in 1869. The family lived near Chicago for six months and then settled on a farm in Linton township, Allamakee county. He had lived in Monona and was a resident of Independence at the time of his death.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Martin Franck and Mrs. Emma Fett, both of Monona; four brothers, A.A. Schlitter, Theodore, Jorn, and Emil, all living near Monona.
