Strawberry Point-- George Burdine Fenchel, 74, died of cancer Tuesday in the Lutheran Home after a long illness. Mr. Fenchel was a high school principal at Adair, Story City, Rockwell-Swaledale, and Linn-Mar and Superintendent at Massena and Hawkeye. He was a past member of the Strawberry Point City Council and mayor.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; three daughters, Sue Fenton of Strawberry Point, Julie Sorensen of Hanlontown and Kathy McNeal of Ossian; three sons, Kurt of Strawberry Point, Timothy of Woodward and Mark of Rock Valley; three brothers, Bernard of Strawberry Point, Fred of Mason City and Bruce of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Trudy Weston of Bettendorf; and five grandchildren.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Emanuel Lutheran Church. Burial: Strawberry Point Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Roberson's.
