Elkader-- Catherine L. Degenford, 78, of Edgewood, formerly of Elkader, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in Central Community Hospital, Elkader, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader, by the Rev. Paul Peters and the Rev. John Friederick. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Elkader. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 7 to 10 a.m. Monday at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, with a Scripture service at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors include a son, Jay and wife Janet Degenford of Edgewood; her grandchildren Alicia and Emily Degenford; brothers and sisters, Florian (Joyce) Cassutt of Hudson, Wis., Dorothy (Bob) Allen of Manchester, Jean (Bob) Hinds of Dubuque and Jim Cassutt of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Joanne Cassutt of Elkader; and many nieces and nephews.
