Garnavillo-- A Garnavillo youngster who had been unconscious for the last seven years died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.

Richard Curran, 9, son of Mrs. Dale Dettman of Garnavillo, lost consciousness after undergoing surgery at age 2.

Services were conducted Monday morning at St. Joseph's church; Tuecke funeral home had charge. Burial was at Elkader.

The boy's father, Clark Curran, was killed in a fall five years ago.

Surviving in addition to his mother and step-father are three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Patrick; a sister, Geraldine, and grandparents.
