Monona, Ia. - Funeral services for Friend N. Atwood, 75, former resident of Monona, who died at a hospital in Bellingham, Wash., Wednesday, Aug. 2, following a lingering illness, were held here at the Schultz Funeral Home Monday. The Rev. R.C. Jerrell, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the city cemetery.
Mr. Atwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Soloman Atwood, pioneers of Clayton County, was born Sept. 16, 1868, on a farm near Monona. He married Miss Laura Gile, and they lived on a farm near McGregor. Later they moved to Minnesota. For the past seven months he had made his home with his son, at Bellingham, Wash.
Surviving are two sons, Gile Atwood, of Bellingham, Wash., and William H. Atwood of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Lulu L. Johnstone, Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. George Land, Waukon, Ia.
