Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Mary Pixler, 69, of McGregor, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 29, at 1:30 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg with Rev. R. H. Steege officiating.

The body lay in state at the Church from 12:30 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Postville City cemetery.

Mrs. Pixler submitted to surgery at General Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wednesday, June 23. Complications developed soon after surgery. She died Sunday morning, June 27, at about 12:25 o'clock.

She was born a daughter of Fred and Mary, nee, Radloff, Mueller, May 18, 1902, in Zion Lutheran church, Clayton Center, by Rev. F. W. Seifert. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, April 1, 1917, by Rev. Fred Braun.

She was married to George Pixler, Jan. 19, 1920. They farmed on various farms near Postville and in Farmersburg township. Later they quit farming and moved to Dubuque, living there a number of years. When Mr. Pixler retired, they moved to McGregor and made their home there. After her husband's death, March 31, 1962, she continued to live in McGregor for about five years.

She then moved to Anamosa and lived with her sister, Mrs. John Kiple. About two years ago, she and her sister moved back to McGregor and made their home there. Sunday, June 20, of this year, she and her sister became members of St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg, transferring their membership from St. Paul Lutheran church in Anamosa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. William (Ella) Lubbers of Postville, Mrs. Harvey (Linda) Klasen of Farmersburg, and Mrs. Arlo (Lucy) Johanningmeier and Mrs. John (Alice) Kiple, both of McGregor; and one brother, Fritzie Mueller of Farmersburg.

Music for the services was provided by the Senior choir of St. John Lutheran church of Farmersburg. Mrs. R. H. Steege was the organist.

Pallbearers were: Don Johanningmeier, Orval, Robert and Reuben Mueller, Duane Lubbers and Jay Mathews.
