Waterloo Daily Courier, Sun., 25 May 1941.

Iowa Deaths: Strawberry Point-- Thomas A. Boland, 88, here at the home of his son Thomas E. Boland, after a short illness and infirmities of old age; son of John and Margaret Boland, born May 13, 1853 at Leominster, Mass.; came to Iowa with his parents in 1860, settling near Littleport; on Oct. 11, 1882 he married Ellen Ivory at Cox Creek; she died Aug. 28, 1898; most of his life was spent on a farm in this community; taught school 10 years; retired in 1922, spending his time with various members of his family; leaves six sons and two daughters, Thomas E. Boland, Strawberry Point; Leo and William, Elkader; Francis and Daniel, Two Harbors, Minn.; Matthew of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. William Paige, Elkader and Sister Mary Anita of Farley; also 18 grandchildren; funeral Saturday.
