Elkader Register, Thur., 28 July 1892. Garnavillo column.
On Saturday evening our usually quiet town was startled by the announcement that Henry Hill had been overcome by the heat and was in a dying condition. He had left his home in the morning, to assist Peter Bearns in making hay. He soon complained of not feeling well and retired to a neighboring cluster of bushes to rest. Here he was found by the men in an unconscious state. Medical aid was summoned at once, but before it arrived death had ensued. Henry Hill was born in Grant County, Wis., May 23, 1854. He removed with his parents to Garnavillo in 1860, and has lived here ever since. In 1877 he married Margereth Schuete, who preceded him in death eleven years ago, leaving him an only son George, who with his aged parents and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Sigg, survive him. His remains were buried in the old cemetery on Monday, the funeral being in charge of the Garnavillo Turn verein, of which organization he was a member.

During the recent hot spell at Garnavillo occurred the death of Henry Hill from sunstroke. He was working in a hay field on the old John Meeting farm near Cedar Creek, and while at work was overcome by the heat and retired to a shade near by. He was found soon after in an unconscious condition and died before medical aid could reach him.
