BLIETZ, KUHLOW, TUECCKE, SMITH

Garnavillo, Ia. - Funeral services for William Blietz, 81, were held at St. Paul's Church here with the Rev. Alexander Meyer, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Blietz was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, on April 24, 1857. In November, 1878, he was married to Miss Ida Kuhlow. He worked in a brick factory until their immigration to America in 1883. The settled first in Read Township, Clayton County, where Mr. Blietz worked on various farms for six years. They then purchased a farm in Jefferson Township where they remained until 1909, when they moved to Garnavillo.

His death was caused by cancer of the stomach.

He is survived by one son, Bernard of Marcus; two daughters, Mrs. Enna Tuecke of Guttenberg and Elizabeth of Garnavillo; one sister, Mrs. Amelia Smith in Berlin, Germany; six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

His wife and one daughter preceded him in death.
