Charles Edward, 6, Robert Wayne, 3, and William Henry Long, 1, were killed in an apartment building fire in McGregor, Iowa, 21 Jan. 1939. They were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Long. The mother and four other persons also died in the fire.

All three are buried in Pleasant Grove cemetery with their mother Sylvia nee Creviston.Below is a photo of Charles Edward Long, oldest of the 3 Long children to perish in the fire. A photo of the youngest child, William Henry, can be viewed with his mother's obituary. Both photos appeared in the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, Monday evening edition, January 23, 1939
