Cora E. Ames

Funeral services for Cora E. Ames, 85, were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1981 at 11 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

Cora E. Ames, daughter of Jacob and Mary (Burgoyne) Deal, was born Oct. 17, 1895 near Waukon, Allamakee County. Her entire life was spent in Allamakee and Clayton County. She died Jan. 24, 1981 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

Feb. 14, 1917, Cora was married to Amos Ames of Luana. They lived on their farm near Postville until June 1966, when they moved to Postville.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Womens Association, Post Rebekah Lodge and Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Allyn Hilery; four brothers, Guy, Herbert, Ernest, and Arthur; four sisters, Edith, Maude, Minnie and Elsie.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Arleon (Ruth Earlene) Olson of Clermont; two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
