Strawberry Point - The funeral of Richard Alderson, 87, Sr., was held here Monday afternoon at Gill's Funeral Chapel with burial in the Strawberry Point Cemetery. Mr. Alderson died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Alderson, following a long illness.

He was born May 2, 1855 near Dubuque, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Alderson. He was married July 1, 1876 to Hannah Simpson and they farmed in this vicinity until 1907 when they retired and moved to Strawberry Point. His wife died June 9, 1931.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Harry Toole of Lamont, John of Weiser, Ida., Mrs. Elizabeth Gladwin of Moline, Ill., Mrs. E.L. Clegg of Fayette, and Mrs. Roy Nace, Mrs. Ray Alderson, and Richard Jr., all of Strawberry Point; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
