Elgin Echo, Thursday, 07 March 1895.
Died, at her home in Grand Meadow, Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1895, of consumption, Mary Fleming, aged 17 yrs. and 21 months. It is with heartfelt sorrow that we chronicle this death. Death is indeed sad at all times but especially so when the young are called. Though not entirely unexpected her death came as a sad surprise to a large circle of relatives and friends. She was the light of the household and almost idolized by a fond father and mother who will feel her loss most keenly. Sad indeed it is that one so young should be called, but when we remember that "There is a Reaper whose name is Death."
Just one short week before her death a brother preceded her to that better land where sorrow and care are unknown and all is peace. It is seldom that we are called upon to offer our sympathy in such deep sorrow in one home.

The brother of Mary referred to in the death notice was Michael J. Fleming. His death was recorded in Clayton County Register of Deaths, Book I, page 100. According to this record he was buried in Clermont, Fayette co. - so it is very likely that Mary is also buried there.
