Decorah, Ia. - Funeral services for Edward Meyer, 57, were held at the home here Thursday afternoon with the Rev. T.A. Hoff, Lutheran pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery* at Garnavillo. Mr. Meyer committed suicide by hanging himself in a local produce company early Monday.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wolfgram Meyer and was born Jan. 13, 1886 in Crawford County, Wis. He married Amanda Suchow at Garnavillo on April 16, 1913 and they made their home on a farm near Garnavillo for 18 years, later moving to Prairie du Chien, Wis., where they lived for nine years. Before coming to Decorah nine years ago, they lived on a farm near Postville for one year.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Eric Jensen of Decorah and Mrs. Frank Karnik of Tye Field, Abilene, Tex.; one brother and five sisters, Mrs. Theresa Smith of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Catherine New of Brooklyn, N.Y., Frank, Mrs. Anna Zimmerman, and Mrs. William Gaulke, all of Prairie du Chien, and Mrs. Margaret Kean of Dubuque.
