Strawberry Point, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Otto Gipper, 40, will be held here Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Emmanuels Lutheran Church with burial in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Mrs. Gipper died here Wednesday at the home of her mother, Mrs. Anna Opperman, following a long illness.

She was the former Leta Opperman and was born May 6, 1902 on a farm near Lamont, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Opperman. She was graduated from the local high school and later she attended Iowa State College. She was married Aug. 20, 1923 to Mr. Gipper, who survives with her mother; one sister, Mrs. Carl Wagner of Oelwein; and one brother, Ernest Opperman of Hampton. Her father and one sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Otto Gipper, 40, died Wednesday morning about two o'clock at the home of her mother, following a lingering illness. As Leta, she was born near Lamont, May 06, 1902, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Opperman. She was a graduate of the Strawberry Point high school and had also attended the Iowa State college at Ames for two years, where she studied Home Economics. She was married to Otto Gipper, Aug. 20, 1923. When her sister, Mrs. Andrew (Clara) Hughes died, they took into their home the daughter, Kathryn Jane Hughes, whom they have raised as their own daughter. Surviving are her husband, who is employed at Waterloo; her mother, Mrs. Anna Opperman of Strawberry Point; one sister, Mrs. Carl Wagner of Oelwein; one brother, Ernest Opperman of Hampton. There are also several nieces and nephews.

A prayer service was held in the Gill Funeral chapel at 1:30 Saturday afternoon Jan. 23, and services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock in the Emanuel Lutheran church by the Rev. L. A. Stumme. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
