Monona, Ia. - Funeral services were held here Thursday morning for Mrs. Anna Maria Heim Steiert, 78, who died Jan. 2 at the home of her son, Louis. The Rev. Gerald Steiert, of Mason City, a grandson, assisted by the Rev. Luke Donlon, pastor, officiated at the solemn requiem mass at St. Patrick's Church at 9:30 o'clock. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Mrs. Steiert, eldest of a family of 17, was born Aug. 24, 1864, in Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heim. She came to America with her parents when 16 years old, settling in Dubuque. Later the family moved to Cherry Mound. She was married to Vincent Steiert in October, 1882, and the couple operated a farm east of Monona. After the death of Mr. Steiert on March 13, 1905, she made her home with her children.
Surviving are one son, Louis, of Monona; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Baillie, of Ventura, Calif., and Mrs. Mary McClanahan, of Dallas, Tex.; one stepson, Frank Steiert, of Monona; nine grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren; seven sisters and six brothers. One stepson, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
