David Leroy Diehl

David Leroy Diehl, 69, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, formerly of McGregor and Dubuque, Iowa died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from complications of heart disease.

He was born on June 6, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa to Harry and Luvella Diehl. David graduated from the Thomson High School, Thomson, Illinois in 1962.

David was united in marriage to Mary Krivanek on June 20, 1976, in McGregor, Iowa. This is where they owned and operated The River Queen for 28 years. David also worked as a marine mechanic for many years at Boatels. David loved being on the river, talking with friends, spending time with family and collecting arrowheads. He was also a loyal Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his three sons and three grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Diehl, Chloe and Bryce of Marquette, Iowa; Joshua (fiancé, Lacey Hagensick) Diehl of Dubuque, Iowa; and Jacob (Janelle) Diehl, Bradley of Dubuque, Iowa. David is also survived by his sister, Diana (Jack) Marken, of Thomson, Illinois and many other sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, rural McGregor, Iowa with the Rev. Dr. Jenny Edinger as the officiant. Burial service will follow.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa is helping the family with the arrangements.
