Mary Walke

Mary “Toots” Walke, 66, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Friday, April 19, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Guttenberg.

Mary was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Guttenberg to Clarence and Frances (Biermann) Boge.

Mary received her education from the Guttenberg School where she graduated with the class of 1965. Three years later, Toots married Dennis Walke on Aug. 10, 1968, at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with two daughters, Donna and Deanna. For many years, Mary helped her husband with construction from working on basements to shingling a roof. She tended bar for many years as well at different establishments in Guttenberg. Toots enjoyed visiting with her clients at the tavern, playing cards, especially euchre and reading. Toots was also a member of the Eagles Club along with her husband.

Toots is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Jerry) Reth of Cedar Rapids and Deanna (Paul) Hood of Brandy Station, Va.; four grandchildren, Courtney Reth, Taylor Reth, Collin Hood, and Kyle Hood; one sister, Ruth (Stanley) Bolsinger; three brothers, Willis (Sharon), Merlyn (Darlene) and Gerald Boge; four sisters-in-law, Diane, Joann, Sheila and Carol Boge and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers, Butch, Harold, Ronald, Clyde, Richard and Daniel Boge.
