Robert E. Helmey, 76, of Marquette died Tuesday evening at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Services will be at 1:30 pm Friday at the Thornburg Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa, where friends may call from 7-9 pm. Thursday. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor, where military honors will be accorded by the Marquette American Legion Post.

Mr. Helmey had been employed by the Milwaukee Rail Road for many years prior to his retirement in 1969.

Surviving are his wife the former Doris Fiet; two sons Carl Breckler of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Larry Breckler of Milwaukee, Wis; a daughter Michele Dunford of Marquette, and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
