The old lady Oathout died quite suddenly at Luana, on Monday morning. She was about 82 years of age.

Word was received here on Tuesday, conveying the sad intelligence that the mother of O.D. Oathout, of this place, had died on that date, October 6th, 1890, at the residence of her son George, in Monona township.

She had been ailing for some time, but was thought to be improving on Sunday last when Mr. Oathout of this place paid her a visit. But the disease changed for the worse, and in a short time she had closed her eyes to earthly scenes.

Deceased was a native of Lebanon, Madison county, New York, where she was born April 20th, 1811, being 79 years, 5 months and 10 days of age at the time of her death.

On New Year’s day, 1834, she was married to S.H. Oathout, and in 1855 they emigrated to Iowa, locating in Monona township. Mr. Oathout died some years since, but there are left eight children to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. The friends of the family will extend to them their heartfelt sympathies in the great bereavement they has sustained.
