Postville Herald, Fri., 10 Jan. 1919.

It was a great shock to the neighborhood when word was passed about that Will Tewes was dead. He had been ill with Spanish influenza followed by pneumonia and infection of the gall bladder for twelve days. All knew he was seriously ill, yet were hoping he would live. In spite of the excellent care given by Miss Della Dull and assistant he passed away Tuesday, Dec, 24, 1918, at 10:30 a.m.

William Frank Frederick Tewes was born Jan. 15, 1894, in Monona, baptized by Rev. F. W. Siefert of Clayton Center, March 11, 1894, confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran faith at Monona by Rev. Otto Wappler. He received his education in the country schools, later attending Monona High school and spent three years at Valder Business College, Decorah. Was in the employ of A. E. Schwab at Monona for two years. October 15, 1917, he engaged in the general merchandise business at Luana. January 3, 1917, he married Miss Melvina Bruns at Monona. Our sympathy goes out to the young wife and the 13 months old daughter, Delos Mae, who is to young to remember her father's love, also to his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Tewes, 3 sisters and brother Carl, all of Monona. The funeral occurred from the home Friday at one o'clock p.m., Rev. Doughs of Monona in charge. Burial at Monona.

Note: His daughters proper name, Delores Mae Tewes, was given in the card of Thanks.
