Postville Review, Fri., 1 February 1907.
Dorothea Busacker, nee Brandtman, was born in Griebs, Dormitz, Mecklenberg Schwerein, Germany, October 25, 1833, and died at her home in Postville, Iowa, about 9 o'clock p.m., on Tuesday, January 17, 1907, aged 73 years, two months and 22 days.
On July 20, 1858, she was married to Henry Busacker in Germany. They came to America in 1872, living for six months with a friend, John Stiehl, near Garnavillo, at the end of which time they bought a 207 acre farm near Luana, where they resided continuously until 1895, when they moved to the small farm just south of Postville now occupied by Conrad Welzel. In 1903 they bought a residence in Postville where they have since lived until her demise. She was the mother of three children - J. H. Busacker, Mrs. W. J. H. Schultz and Mrs. Conrad Welzel - all residents of this locality, and with the venerable husband and father mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.
Thirteen years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis which partially disabled her. Six months later a second stroke rendered her an invalid, since which time, and until her death, the devoted husband has given unstintingly of his time and means to relieve as much as possible her sufferings.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran church in this city on Sunday, January 20th, Rev. Paulson, of Luana, officiating, and despite the severe nature of the weater a large gathering of friends turned out to pay their last tribute of respect to memory of the noble christian life just closed.
