Merritt Gibson Alderson, son of John and Susanna Carpenter Alderson, was born Jan. 28, 1893, on
a farm in Cox Creek Township, Clayton County, Iowa, and died at the Central Community Hospital,
Elkader, Tuesday, March 19, 1963. Mr. Alderson died suddenly after seemingly recovering from
surgery.

He received his schooling at the Cox Creek school and lived all his married life on a farm he
operated at the time of his death near Mederville.

Mr. Alderson was married to Ella Bente Jan. 28, 1914.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Verneeta Vivian, who was a victim of
drowning near the Alderson home July 10, 1933; by one brother, Everett, and three sisters, Esther,
who died in infancy, Elsie, Mrs. John Moyna and Jessie, Mrs. John Moyna.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, Wilma Maylo, the Mrs. Orville Stannard Jr.; son-in-law,
Orville Stannard Jr. and three grandchildren, Mark, Renee and Rhonda Stannard. Three brothers,
Miles, Ray and Ellsworth Alderson, all of Strawberry Point.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 1963, at the Witt Chapel at 2 p. m. with the Rev.
A. F. Volle officiating.

Burial was in the Mederville cemetery.

Pallbearers were George Hakert, Roberto Hines, John Robbins, Milton Kramer, Martin Hubbard
and Mike Galor.
