Charles Jesse Nichols, 82, of 1410 W. 2nd St. died Thursday at 5:15 p.m. at Scholtz Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Giard Jan. 9, 1872, the son of Dr. Charles E. and Martha J. Snyder Nichols. On Oct. 29, 1892, he married Beulah Lee. They later were divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Miller of Postville and Mrs. Harold Hagedorn of Evansdale; three sons, Leslie of 1410 W. 2nd St. and Glen and Curtis, both of Evansdale; four sisters, Mrs. Zella Klotzbach of Mason City, Mrs. Cora Shinofield of Moline, Ill., Mrs. Alberta Benzing of McGregor and Mrs. Ora Dolan of Alexandria, S.D.; two brothers, Clarence of Milltown, Wis. and Algie of McGregor; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his parents and one son. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Locke Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Buseman, pastor of First Reformed Church of Evansdale, will officiate, and burial will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Giard Cemetery near McGregor.
