Johann Heinrich Chirstoph Becker was born in Alt Krenzlin, Germany, November 16, 1819, and died at his home four miles east of Postville, about eleven o'clock July first, 1909, aed 89 years, seven months and fifteen days.

In 1851 he was married to Maria Klein. To this union were born four children, two of whom died.

In 1873 he came to America, settling first near Guttenburg, and seven years later in Grand Meadow. He was a saving man and by his frugality had laid a sufficiency by to enable him to spend his declining years in comfort. His wife and children gave him their tenderest care. His wish to have the Holy communion was fulfilled last spring, and stregthened his faith in our Savior.

He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter. The funeral was held from the home of his son Henry Becker in Wagner township at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. Kuehne. Interment in the Eno cemetery.
