Philena Prudence Stahl, daughter of Edwin and Hucreta Silver, was born in Clayton county, Iowa, June 17, 1847, departing from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Felix, at Dallas, Texas, on February 8, 1916.
Her early childhood was spent in the county where she was born, and during her maidenhood was converted and united with the United Brethren church with which she retained membership through life.
She was united in marriage to Wesley Stahl, now deceased, at Strawberry Point, Iowa, in September, 1865, to whom were born six children, three of whom are left to mourn her loss: Mrs. L.M. Kugel, of New York City; Mrs. Jno. W. Felix, of Dallas, Texas, and Ed. S. Stahl, of Ardmore, Okla.; also two brothers and three sisters now living in the states of California, Washington and Kansas.
The greater portion of her married life was spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he husband was connected with the Farmers' Insurance Company for over thirty years.
Until recently Mrs. Stahl made her home in Arlington, since the death of her husband, spending the past four winter seasons at the home of her daughter in Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Schugert, Wednesday, February 9th, at Dallas before the remains were transported to Iowa for burial accompanied by her son, E.S. Stahl, and interment was made in the Volga City cemetery, Friday, Feb. 11th, prayer being offered by Rev. Roberts of that place.
