We are sorry to record the rather sudden death of Mrs. William Crain, late of near Volga City, of congestion of the bowels. She suffered for four days in a fearful manner, requiring, sometimes, four able bodied men to keep her on her bed, her agony was so intense. She will be greatly missed by a large circle; she was one of the extraordinary women of Iowa, and loved by all who knew her. Her funeral took place Thursday, July 1st.

~Note: Maiden name was Ruth Tew, burial is in Hillcrest cemetery, Sperry twp.
