Death Of An Ex-Clayton County Sheriff.

A communication from county auditor A. F. Greenwaldt, of Audubon, announces the fact that Jas. Davis, familiarly known as "Uncle Jimmie Davis", died at that place March 31st, and was buried April 2nd, under the auspices of the A.F. & A.M. Mr. Davis formerly lived near Garnavillo, and was one of Clayton counties pioneer officers. Mr. Davis was highly esteemed by all who knew him, and that he made a good officer is evident from the fact he served twelve years as sheriff of Clayton county.
