Funeral services for Alan C. Behnken, 44, Monona, were held Thursday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona. Robert Muller, Stewartville, MN, officiated. Burial followed at the Garnavillo City Cemetery.
Alan Carl Behnken, the son of Walter and Lucille (Lenth) Behnken, was born July 13, 1939 at Monona. He died July 9, 1984 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN, following an extended illness.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo. He attended school in Garnavillo and graduated from high school there in 1957.
Alan moved with his parents in 1957 to a farm near Postville where he farmed until 1971. After that, he worked for Tri State Breeders, Winona, MN. He moved with his family to Monona in 1977 and was employed by Drahn's and later was a salesman for Dee Implements.
Alan was united in marriage to Kay Guyer June 9, 1962. They were the parents of 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; his daughters, Michele and Melissa, both at home, and Melanie, of Roslyn, NY; his sons, Merritt and Marcus, at home; his mother, Mrs. Lucille Behnken, Postville; and his 2 sisters, Mrs. Donald (Norma) Kerr, Postville and Mrs. Roger (Janet) Clement, New Hampton.
