Fred William Conrad Schultz
Funeral services for Fred William Conrad Schultz, 65, were held November 5, 1956 at 1:45 o'clock from the Schultz Funeral Home to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Monona at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Monona.Mr. Schultz died Thursday afternoon, November 1, 1956, at his home. His health became impaired following an auto accident in May, 1952, at Luana. A series of strokes followed during the next year and brought to the fore also a diabetic condition.
He was born a son of Carl and Mary, nee Krogman, Schultz in Grand Meadow township near Luana, September 2, 1891. He was baptized July 3, 1892, at Postville and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran church in Luana, April 16, 1905.
He was married to Louise Marie Jarms, June 23, 1917, at Monona. The couple went to live on a farm in Grand Meadow township. In 1920 they moved to their farm in Monona. Mr. Schultz retired from farming in 1950, when his son, Dean, took over the operation of the farm. He then drove a school bus for two and a half years.
Mr. Schultz was an ardent church worker. He served as councilman, taught in the Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Brotherhood.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Dean; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ida) Schutte of Postville; five brothers, Carl and Louis of Luana, William, Emil, and Harold of Postville; one half brother, Henry of Luana; and one granddaughter, Barbara Jane Schultz.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. H. Barghahn, William and Elsa Barghahn from Staplehurst, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nise and Mrs. Louise Hoopman of Lime Springs; Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Noblett from Cresco; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pruess, Mr. and Mrs. C. Koenig, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blumhagen and Elmer, all from Castalia.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Nelson attended the funeral of Fred Schultz at Monona Monday. Mr. Schultz was the father of their son-in-law, Dean Schultz.
