Mrs. Elzer (Amanda Laura Wirkler) Schierholz
Services were held Monday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Mrs. Elzer Schierholz, who died May 15, 1971, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.
Amanda Laura Wirkler, daughter of Edward Wirkler and Mary Abel Wirkler, was born May 24, 1888 at Monona, Iowa.
On April 3, 1907, she was united in marriage to Elzer Schierholz. They became the parents of four children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elzer, a daughter Malinda (Mrs. Clarence Reinhardt); two grandchildren, Marna Jane and Dean Reinhardt; five sisters, Alma (Mrs. Wm. Miller); Lavina (Mrs. George Bothel); Adele (Mrs. Wm. Wiethorn); Esther (Mrs. Harvey Stoehr); Mahala (Mrs. Joe Lambert); five brothers, Arthur, Orville, Bernhardt, Eldo and Edward.
She is survived by three children, Irving of Monona; Helen (Mrs. Gus Drebenstedt) of Waverly and Milton of Postville. There are also nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great, great grandson; two sisters, Nora Jenkins of Monona and Marie Skilling of Laguna Beach, California.
Burial was in the Monona Cemetery.
