EDGAR FRED KRUEGER
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 2, 1979, for Edgar Fred Krueger who passed away Oct. 30 at the Veterans Hospital in Tomah, Wis. at the age of 83 years. Pastor Karl Hansen officiated the service at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Luana.
Edgar Krueger was born June 2, 1896, the son of Henry D. and Caroline Kregel Krueger at Luana. He was baptized June 21, 1896, and confirmed April 9, 1911 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Luana.
February 9, 1921 he was united in marriage to Maria P. Voelz at the home of the bride's parents. Three children were born to the couple: Vila, Ivan and Devere.
During WWI, Edgar entered the service July 1918 and served with the 325th Infantry in France until May 1919. He was a member of the American Legion Post 388 of St. Olaf. His early years were spent farming in the Luana and Monona area, working as an electrician and as a mechanic. He was employed by Clayton County as a road maintenence worker for 15 years. In 1945, he owned and operated Krueger's Service Station in St. Olaf. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Palas Implement Co. in Farmersburg.
Preceeding him in death were his infant son, Devere, four brothers, Rudolph, Alvin, Arthur, and Paul. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Milton (Vila) Schroeder of Farmersburg; son, Ivan of Monona; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Reinhold (Malinda) Voelz of Postville; and Mrs. Fredena Schrader of Monona.
